You should know that the following recipe is all Izaak. He is the mastermind of elevating pre-marinated meat from Trader Joe’s.
I personally would have just cooked it according to package directions and then added a side veggie. But not Izaak, oh noooo, he took it to the next level with the sauce situation below.
Tri-tip Steak and Blue Cheese Suggestion
2 lbs tri-tip in your favorite marinade (we used the Trader Joe’s marinated steak)
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat or high heat
Brown 5 min per side
Turn off the heat
Add to the hot skillet around the meat
1 shallot sliced
4 oz mushrooms, halved
4-5 whole garlic cloves
Place the skillet in 425 oven
After 15 min, top with 2 oz Maytag blue
Cook 10-15 additional minutes for medium
Remove the meat to rest on the plate for 10 min.
Over low heat on the stovetop, add:
2 oz butter
2 tsp Dijon
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
Fresh thyme spring
Stir until the sauce is emulsified and serve over sliced meat
